Tips
Celebrate Chinese New Year with La Choy

These basic cooking tips add Asian flair to your healthy fare using some favorite La Choy® Asian pantry items.

Healthful Tips to add Asian Flair to your Meals
  • Everyday Asian-Inspired Salad Dressing

Make a light dressing by whisking together some Dijon mustard, honey, La Choy Soy Sauce, rice vinegar, and peanut oil. It'll spice up any salad!
  • Oodles of Asian Noodles

Skip the fried onions in your green bean casserole and add La Choy Chow Mein or Rice Noodles for a healthier (and crunchier) alternative.
  • Give Meats and Seafood New Spice

Rub La Choy Garlic Ginger or Teriyaki Sauce over your favorite seafood or meat and sprinkle lightly with cayenne pepper. It's low-fat and delicious!
  • Stir It Up with Stir-fry

Stir-frying is a healthy way to cook. Always start a good stir-fry by heating oil over high heat and stir-frying some garlic until light golden. Then add any vegetable, such as La Choy Bamboo Shoots or Water Chestnuts, a lean meat, and season with La Choy Garlic Ginger or Teriyaki Sauce. Continue to stir-fry to distribute the heat evenly.
  • The Sauce Is the Boss

Add spice to your baked chicken by seasoning cooking juices with La Choy Soy Sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and cayenne for that salty, sour, sweet, and spicy balance so common in Asian food preparation. No added fat—just flavor!
  • Warm Up Winter

Leftover vegetables or meats are ideal for making flavorful stocks to use in soups or sauces. Just add these to a pot with sliced ginger, crushed garlic, and La Choy Soy Sauce. Fill with water and simmer to allow the ingredients to develop deep flavors. Skim off any fat to keep it healthful.
  • Wrap Up Lunch

Combine sliced roast chicken, lettuce, tomato, and low-fat cheese in a spinach-flavored tortilla. Drizzle some Everyday Asian-Inspired Salad Dressing (see first tip above) and roll it up for a light, delicious lunch.
  • Two Eggs, Please Hold the Yolks!

Your favorite breakfast just got healthier. Make an egg white omelet and stuff if with stir-fried La Choy Bamboo Shoots, carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms seasoned with La Choy Garlic Ginger or Teriyaki Sauce.
  • Healthy Asian-Inspired Snack

Scatter mixed nuts on a cookie sheet and drizzle with La Choy Soy Sauce, sugar, dried ginger, and cayenne pepper. Bake in a medium-hot oven until golden. Cool and toss the mixed nuts with dried fruit, such as cranberries and raisins.
